This story takes you on a journey through the eyes of a teenage boy named Jack Trupiano. Like other boys his age, he loves basketball, hates chores and looks forward to spending all of his summer days at the local park. His wild imagination enables him to turn his everyday tasks into a fun, nail-biting competition.

Jack’s day is jam-packed from the moment he wakes up until the sun goes down. Although he is known for always tackling any challenge he faces, his confidence is tested one summer day. An unexpected surprise at the park provides him with the courage to get back in the game.

Mr. Yahooty will give the reader a perspective on simpler times. Remember when participating in activities outside provided entertainment when you were growing up? Follow Jack’s imagination as he takes you through a day to remember. I do believe that parents can enjoy reading this story with their kids as it may spark some childhood memories that can be shared.

Excerpts
Dad always stressed to me the power of positive thinking. “There is nothing you can do about what has happened in the past, but there is so much you can do about what you will face in the future.”

As the sun sets, its orange glow hovering over the tree-tops is the signal that the games will soon begin. Then, before you know it, that glow will disappear behind the wall of green surrounding this end of the park. After light turns to dark, the breeze that accompanies this time of day will start to kick in. There are lights overhead that shine brightly into the night. That is what makes this setting so popular during a summer evening.

"According to your father, there is nobody who plays with the heart like you do. That is very important, not just for basketball games but in everyday life as well. You have a gift Jack, not everybody has that desire like I heard you have. I am hoping some day I will get to see you play for myself."

As I was sitting there, I felt as though I was hearing some key advice from my dad, but this time it wasn’t from him. This was a friend of his, who seemed to know an awful lot about what type of kid I was.
